Traditional Thai Massage

Traditional Thai Massage is an ancient system of healing with its roots in Yoga, Ayurvedic medicine and Buddhist spiritual practice. This unique and complete system of Yoga therapy combines rhythmic massage, acupressure, gentle twisting, deep stretching and meditation. Thai Massage releases tension, increases vitality and creates wholeness of mind, body and spirit. The technique emphasizes pressing, compression and stretching techniques and does not apply massage oil or cream. Generally, Thai massages last one to two hours. Thai massage can be simultaneously relaxing and energizing.

Massage therapist uses hands, feet, knees and elbows to knead your muscles during the massage. This consistent kneading, stretching and stroking encourage greater blood flow in your body and increases your circulation. The effects of passive stretching combined with the deep-tissue techniques of Thai massage can be quite relaxing. Passive stretches are particularly believed to bring relief to internal organs, which results in renewed energy.

Oil Massage

Oil massage has been used as one of the oldest forms of stress reduction treatments in history and dates back 3,000 years according to historians. Chinese, Persians, Hindus, and Egyptians were among the earliest users of massage, which they used to treat a variety of ailments. Oil massage encourages proper transmission signals within the central nervous system, relaxing tight muscles and moving toxic molecules through the blood stream and lymph system. In doing this, harmony and structure are enforced in the neuroanatomical, promoting good balance and coordination in the muscles. This balancing act is known as ‘proprioception’, the ability for the body to orient itself in space with movement.

Our Massage therapists prepare massage oil mixtures with vitamins and nutrients to benefit the skin and body. During a massage session, massage oil directly contacts your skin and can be absorbed into your body. The ultimate relaxation massage combines soft and hard techniques. To begin with, smoothing hand movements are used to gently work on muscles and soft tissue, in order to relieve stress and tension and warm the muscles.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the client’s body of to maximize the therapeutic benefit. The stones used are typically river rocks or other very smooth-surfaced stones. These stones are heated in sanitizing water before use. The high iron content in basalt helps the stones retain heat during the massage. Hot stone massages are beneficial on both physical and psychological levels. Always check with your doctor before getting a hot stone massage; individuals with certain conditions–including pregnant women and people with high blood pressure–are advised to avoid this type of therapy.

The heat from the stones helps your muscles relax. While all types of massage can help relieve pain caused by tense muscles, stiff joints or injuries, a hot stone massage may provide greater relief due to the intense nature of the massage. Because the hot stones allow the massage therapist to penetrate deeper, you may find that a hot stone massage leaves you feeling physically better than a Swedish or deep-tissue massage that does not incorporate heat. As the heat from the stones penetrates into your deeper body tissues, your blood vessels open, resulting in improved circulation.
